Janhvi Kapoor, a 26-year-old actor, is set to star in the patriotic thriller “Ulajh,” according to the producers. The film, directed by National Award winner Sudhanshu Saria and produced by Junglee Pictures, will also feature Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Mathew.
“Ulajh” is set in the prestigious and intriguing world of Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and follows the journey of a young IFS officer, played by Kapoor, who comes from a prominent family of patriots. While posted in a career-defining position far from her home turf, she gets embroiled in a dangerous personal conspiracy.
Kapoor said in a statement that she was drawn to the unique story of “Ulajh” and was looking for scripts that would push her out of her comfort zone. She added that portraying a character based in the celebrated world of the Indian Foreign Services was just that.
The script of “Ulajh” is penned by Saria and Parveez Shaikh, with dialogues by Atika Chohan. The cast of the film includes Rajesh Tailang, Meiyang Chang, Sachin Khedekar, Rajendra Gupta, and Jitendra Joshi.
Saria said he is thrilled to collaborate with Junglee Pictures on an “original” film and praised Kapoor for being the beating heart of the movie. He also noted that it would be a treat for audiences to watch her spar with thespians like Rajesh Tailang and Sachin Khedekar, maverick actors like Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Matthews, and Meiyang Chang.
Junglee Pictures CEO Amrita Pandey said that their aim is to develop and create films with people who have a fresh and distinct voice to captivate and entertain the audience. She added that having Sudhanshu on board for a film like “Ulajh” is a perfect fit and that the team of celebrated and experienced writers and technicians who are contributing to the film is making it an incredible team effort.
“Ulajh” will start filming at the end of the month. The movie promises to be a rollercoaster ride for audiences and is expected to deliver a gripping storyline with nuanced and layered characters. The film’s setting in the unexplored world of IFS is sure to add to its intrigue and make it a must-watch for moviegoers.
