Kajol explains her comments about ‘uneducated political leaders’ after facing criticism, stating, ‘I was emphasizing the importance of education’

Actress Kajol has responded to the backlash she faced on social media after her comments about political leaders without an educational background governing citizens. In a tweet, she clarified that her intention was not to demean any politician but rather emphasize the importance of education. Kajol, known for her iconic films from the 90s like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” and “Karan Arjun,” expressed her respect for the great leaders guiding the country. She addressed the issue after a video clip from an interview went viral, where she discussed the slow progress in India due to traditional mindsets and the lack of education among some political leaders.

During the interview, Kajol mentioned the challenges faced by women and highlighted the role of education in bringing about change. She candidly expressed her opinion, stating that she believes many political leaders lack the perspective that education can provide.

Following the video’s circulation, Kajol started trending on social media, with some users criticizing the actress for her remarks. One user even referred to her past as a school dropout, suggesting she should focus on movies instead of speaking about education and politics.

However, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi defended Kajol’s right to express her opinion, stating that while some people were outraged, it was important to recognize that it was just an opinion and not necessarily a factual statement. Chaturvedi also urged people not to dismiss Kajol’s entire political science knowledge based on a single comment.
